Video: Stand Up – Worship Central #setapart

This week I’m listening to a great new album release from Worship Central called “Set Apart”. One of my favorite songs so far off the album is “Stand Up” by Luke Hellebronth. The album is available now for pre-order on iTunes and releases Oct 27th.

New Music: Parker’s Mercy Brigade by Kristen Gilles

kristengillesKristen Gilles is a worship leader and deacon at Louisville’s multi-campus Sojourn Community Church. Her new CD Parker’s Mercy Brigade (released today) is a story of faith, lament, comfort, healing and worship following the stillbirth of her son.

From Kristen’s Website:

When Sojourn Music’s Kristen and Bobby Gilles suffered a stillbirth of their son Parker, God comforted them through his word, his spirit and his church. From this experience comes Parker’s Mercy Brigade, a collection of new worship songs to the Lord who gives and takes, and who works the giving and the taking for the good of those who love him.

And because half of all proceeds go to Nadus Films, when you purchase the CD or digital download, you haven’t just bought a record, you’ve joined Parker’s Mercy Brigade. Humanitarian relief and education in Guatemala. Clean water in Sudan. And a powerful new voice for the voiceless, around the world.

I’ve had a preview copy now for a while and it is some of the most raw and vulnerable worship songs I have heard.  The process of writing and making this record must have been so difficult, but at the same time, a time of healing.  It’s an amazing encouragement to hear songs that still glorify God after coming out of such a painful life event.

New Music: Always Been About You – Fellowship Creative (Album Review and #giveaway)

fellowshipcreative“Always Been About You” is the fifth, full-length release from Fellowship Creative and I have 2 copies of the album to give away!

Who are Fellowship Creative?

Whether in the areas of music, video, promotion, art, design, writing, photography, or production, Fellowship Creative is a community of creative thinkers and artists building relationships. It’s a safe environment for people to grow in creativity, and develop resources to build the local Church and expand the Kingdom of God.

I had not heard of Fellowship Creative before they sent me this release for review and I’m very glad they did. It’s awesome. They seem to be like an American version of Rend Collective Experiment – a large group of creatives pouring everything they’ve got into worship projects.

The album contains 11 original worship tracks. It’s hard to describe the “sound” of this album because it is so varied, yet it flows together very well.  I will say, it’s youthful, vibrant, and full of energy and that guy in the video above looks a little like Ricky Gervais.  😉

My favorite tracks are “Always Been About You”, “Future Back”, “God Of The Rescue”, “In You”, “Finish What You Started”, “I Will Follow”, and “Beautiful”.

I will be definitely be keeping an eye on future Fellowship Creative projects.  Keep up the good work guys.

A copy of the album will be mailed to two (2) random people who comment on this post.  I will do the drawing on Saturday evening (Feb 16th 2013).

If you won’t win a copy, you can buy the album on iTunes or Amazon!

New Music: Campfire – Rend Collective Experiment

rendcollectiveThe new Rend Collective Experiment album is pretty good.  It’s an acoustic take on a collection of their songs and also a few cover songs. Some people will not be happy about releases that just rehash old songs, but I quite like having the alternative version of these.

Even though the album is supposed to be recorded around a campfire on the beach, it sounds like it was recorded in a studio. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, the arrangements are still stripped down and have that raw acoustic feel.

One of my favorite Rend Collective songs is You Bled.  We’ll be singing it this weekend at STORYCHURCH.

Get it here on Amazon.

Video: Cry Help – I Draw Slow

I Draw Slow is an Irish band that I heard playing on NPR the other day. Pretty cool sound. It’s a bit weird that a band from Ireland is playing music with a mix of Irish and Appalachian influences.
