It’s hard to deny God’s blessing on us as a church as we opened in our new building this weekend — with two services to boot! Super thankful for everyone involved it making this happen. Most of us have skills now we never knew we had. Praying that we use this blessing to have real impact on our neighborhood and city. May we never stop reaching out and inviting in the unchurched, the hurting and the lost.
It’s time to renovate our city!
This was our last week in the elementary school where STORYCHURCH started just over 4 years ago. We opened our first ever service on January 10th, 2010 with Happy Day and decided to close with it on October 5th, 2014. This marks the end of Chapter One in the life of STORYCHURCH.
October 12th, 2014 marks the start of Chapter Two!
This week was the last in the Promised Land sermon series. We have only ONE more series left before we move to our first permanent location. I’m super excited about what is coming in Chapter Two of our story.
After Sunday’s message, I was encouraged to start journalling more consistently. Recording what God is doing, specifically the prayers He is answering. There are so many Chapter Two prayers being offered up right now it can be hard to keep track if I’m not recording them and how God is working them out. 🙂
Super thankful for the worship team this week. I was feeling pretty wore out on Thursday evening due to a crazy work week and time together with these guys really picked me up. Not just because of the music, but because of their hearts and attitudes behind what we do.
On Sunday poor Cylie was feeling ill. Thanks Cylie for fighting through that and leading us all in How Great Is Our God. It was awesome!
I felt that would be a good song to round up the series. We’ve all read the stories of the Israelites wandering around in the wilderness. One second they’re praising God, the next second they are grumbling and complaining and worshiping a golden calf.
God’s people haven’t really changed much. We are still as fickle as the Israelites were – forgetting what God has done and is DOING in our lives. We get distracted and suddenly God is no longer #1 in our lives because the issue or the problem is.
I’m praying for heightened sensitivity to what God is doing in my life and around me. I’m praying for increased focus on God and less so on the problems. I’m praying I actually live out what I write sometimes.
