TOP 30+ SONGS AT STORYCHURCH IN 2015

Well, that’s the end of another year! I always look forward to running this report. This year I asked for some feedback on the report from the rest of team which you can read at the bottom.

This has been a challenging year for the worship team. I’m really thankful for our team stepping up and covering for me as I took some much-needed time off — especially around the birth of my son, Xander.

The number of unique songs the band played this year was 84. This is up from last year’s total of 77! Rather than just report the top 30, I’ve listed all 84 songs this time. There were too many songs throughout the entire list that I wanted to highlight.

As predicted last year, Emmanuel, Scandal Of Grace and Come As You Are all made it into the top 10 this year. This Is Amazing Grace is at #1 for the second year running — we probably need to start phasing it out now.

I really like Forever from Bethel. It was new in 2015 and comes in at #6. I imagine it will stay in rotation throughout 2016. All Of My Heart is also a new entry this year and sits at #9.

Team Feedback

I asked the team three questions:

  1. What ONE song did you enjoy most and why?
  2. What ONE song would you like to sing less of next year?
  3. What ONE song would you like us to sing next year?

Carolyne

  1. Good Good Father – There are other songs that are awesome and very deep, almost brings me to tears when I hear them, but “Good Good Father” for me is like giving me the basic fact of who God is, he is my father and a good one, everything else is a result of that. That’s why I love this song – It’s simplicity and what we need to know above all things.
  2. Probably This Is Amazing Grace :-), heard it too many times.
  3. Would love for Trust In You by Lauren Daigle to be played next year. Awesome words!

Clint

My favorite song is the one I didn’t make a mistake on while playing…

Cylie

  1. There are a few songs I love most due to emotion and congregational involvement. These include Holy Spirit, How He Loves, Oceans, Break Every Chain, and Pursuit.
  2. I think the list speaks for itself in that we sang This Is Amazing Grace and I Am too much. However I wouldn’t say I’m completely over them, just a little overused.

Adam

  1. All My Heart – Any Vance Original really. (guaranteed to play in 2016 now/suck up)
  2. Angels We Have Heard On High (4 years in a row, for me anyway, REALLLLLY!?!)
  3. Any of the songs Clint struggled to play; I’ll do the heavy lifting and play them perfectly for you.  Ha!

Jillien

  1. As for new songs I really enjoyed, No Longer Slaves and Open Up. Older songs that I love playing are Beautiful Things, Great I am, and Pursuit.
  2. I think the top 3 songs this year should be played less. We had a lot of really great songs that we only did 2-3 times that we could have done a few more like Lord I Need You, Good Good Father, and At the Cross.
  3. I realize that you specified “ONE”, but since Cylie, Clint, and Adam didn’t give suggestions, I decided to take their turns! haha 😬
