While he was still talking, some people came from the leader’s house and told him, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?” Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader, “Don’t listen to them; just trust me.” (Mark 5:35-36 MSG)
I love this.
Jesus is making his way to heal a young sick girl. On the way Jesus is delayed by some crowds and the little girl dies.
To everyone, it seemed like all was lost. They had failed to reach there on time. Jairus’ people were advising him not to bother Jesus any more. It was over. What could be done now?
But Jesus wasn’t done. He turns to Jairus and says, “Don’t listen to them; just trust me”.
Jesus and Jairus complete the journey and Jairus’ daughter is miraculously raised from the dead.
Whatever we happen to be facing in life, know that when we are walking along with Jesus, nothing is impossible.
At times we may find ourselves surrounded by people who tell us we’re pretty much screwed and that we might as well give up but Jesus would say to us as well, “Don’t listen to them; just trust me”.
