This is part 5 of a series of blog posts following my experience of recording with Logic Pro and learning as I go. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far with suggestions – it has been really helpful.
I spent a little time today removing the limiters off all the channels and putting it on the output channel only. I had to spend a good deal of time playing about with the compressors to removing the clipping on the guitar and vocal channels. I don’t quite understand the difference between the three vertical sliders on there (click on screenshot to see larger view), so I’m not sure the settings I have selected are optimum.
Two versions came out of today’s session. I bounced the track just after adjusting the limiters and compression as described above. After that I added an Irish Bodhran loop to the mix to see what it sounded like.
What do you think? Is it better with or without the bodhran?
The player below has the six latest versions (two versions added with this session) back-to-back in a playlist so you can compare. If the player does not work for you, links to the MP3s are provided below as well.
