It was such a big weekend for Story Church. The band was Jon on guitar, Bruce on drums, Dan on bass, Katie and Jillien on vocals and myself on acoustic. The set list above is a little special this week too because we have video of each song.
We met and setup in a completely different venue in downtown Durham just for our Easter service. On Saturday we all met to work on giving the new venue the Story Church look and feel. It was so great to see so many people come to help. The end result was amazing and I posted some photos earlier in the week here. You can find additional photos here.
On Sunday morning we had a bit of scare when the circuit tripped. Eventually Dan and Bruce found the fuse box outside and managed to get the power switched back on. We thought we would have to do a complete unplugged acoustic set for a minute.
Jeremy’s message was brilliant. I’d never heard the Garden of Eden linked with the Garden of Gethsemane before, and how significant it was that Jesus was “mistakenly” taken for the gardener (Adam was the gardener in the first garden). Excellent stuff.
The set went very well. Eden was a new song for us so we used it to kick off the service. I think the best song of the morning was Beautiful Things which we played straight after Jeremy’s message.
A few of you will know that this was Jon’s last week playing with the band. He got a real job up north and is moving with the family. Jon and Jenny have been a huge part of what we do week-to-week in Story Church and they will definitely be missed.
