Came To My Rescue Hillsong C

This week the band was Jon on electric, Bruce on drums, Josh on bass, Jillien on vocals and I on vocals & acoustic.  Jeremy was preaching from Joshua 10 this week – where Joshua asks God to make the sun stand still.  I found the perfect song from Elevation Church (Charlotte, NC), called Sun Stand Still.  Not only are the song lyrics a good fit, but it’s also really fun to play.  I loved it. We’ll be singing it again this Sunday.

I made a bit of a boo-boo in the service plan.  It had Healer as the first song in the second set.  So when I got up and started playing How He Loves, there was a little reorganising going on at the sound/computer desk.  Sorry guys!  How He Loves is still a monster song even though we’ve had it in rotation for ages now.  Happy Day on the other hand is just about burnt out.

We used Healer this week to reinforce the truth that our God is the God of the impossible.  Came To My Rescue is another fantastic song.  We started off on the bridge a few times.  I wanted those words to sink in as people sang them.

“In my life be lifted high. In my world be lifted high.  In our love, be lifted high!!”

I get excited just writing those words, never mind singing them.

  1. Nice new blog design, though the earlier one wasn’t so bad either imho.

Once thing I notice in your set lists is that you group songs by key…is that ur favorite transition technique?

Yeah, I liked the other too alright. Just fancied a change. Heard a lot of good things about this template (Standard Theme). I had a lot of trouble with the other template using custom css, etc. Not everything would worked the way I would have liked. Plus, I felt it was a little ‘heavy’ in the load times too.

I’m still tweaking this template, but I’m becoming happier with it each day. The only thing I’m not happy with is the twitter widget on the right. Too chunky. So I’ll work on changing that, or customizing it if available.

On the key thing. Definitely like grouping songs on tempo and key. But a whole service in the same key is not good either, so I try to mix it up a little. We don’t have a keyboard player, so it’s hard to pad out though transitions when there is a key change.
