What an awesome morning at STORYCHURCH today! I love this church!
We continued our BEYOND LEFT AND RIGHT series and talked about “power over” vs “power under”. ”Power over” is when we try to use rules and regulations to enforce a particular culture or way of life.
“Power under” is coming alongside people to help them, guide them, assist them through love and servanthood. This was Jesus’ approach. This should be our approach also.
I loved Jeremy’s example of how God used the pagan king Cyrus to bring about His will. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that whoever leads this country could steer our society further away (still) from “In God We Trust”. This is not the case at all. If God can use a pagan king, he can use any of our elected politicians whether you voted for them or not. One of the key things to remember is that God is still on the throne, no matter who on earth happens to be in power.
